 Shandong Oriental Ocean Group Co., Ltd. is a comprehensive large-scale modern group mainly engaged in seafood seed breeding, farming, seafood processing, bonded warehouse business, and also in catering, real estate development. In 2001, the group founded Shandong Oriental Ocean Sci-tech Co., Ltd. with assets from its leading industries. Listed in Shenzhen Stock Exchange in November, 2006, Shandong Oriental Ocean Sci-tech Co., Ltd. involves in seafood seed breeding, farming, seafood processing, bonded storage business. It is listed among National High-Tech Enterprises, National Leading Companies in Agricultural Industrialization, National Fine seed Farms, State Enterprise Technology Centers, Industrialization Demonstration Bases of National “863” Plan and relying company of National Algae Project Technology Research Center.
Over the years, the company has thoroughly implemented the view of science development, accelerated economic restructuring and moderated development mode, making Oriental Ocean develop from a pure seafood institution with less than 1 million RMB into a large-scale modern enterprise group with 2.6 billion RMB total assets integrating sea water farming, cold storage and processing, real estate development, catering service, science research promotion and international trade.

Since establishment, being market, benefit and development innovation oriented, the company has always been making effort to advance system, technology and management innovation to continuously strengthen company’s comprehensive power. The Group owns subsidiaries including Shandong Oriental Ocean Sci-tech Co., Ltd., Three-star Yantai Oriental Ocean Hotel concerning foreign affairs, Hongteng hotel, Yantai Oriental Ocean Properties Co., Ltd., Yantai Oriental Ocean Property Management Co., Ltd. and Yantai Oriental Ocean Vehicle Maintenance Service Co., Ltd. Among them, Shandong Oriental Ocean Sci-tech Co., Ltd. has established Yantai Economic and Technology Development Zone Branch, Muping Branch, Haiyang Branch, Laizhou Branch, Frozen Food Processing Factory, Collagen Processing Factory and Bonded Processing and Marketing Base; and also owns four wholly-owned subsidiaries including Yantai Shanhai Food Co., Ltd., Shandong Oriental Ocean Marketing Co., Ltd., TongBao International Co., Ltd. and Shandong Oriental Ocean International Freight Agency Co., Ltd. as well as one subsidiary company - Yantai Defeng Sea Food Co., Ltd. Moreover, the Group owns a joint venture company - Yantai Tunde Aquatic Product Co., Ltd.
Integrating resources and fostering new economic highlight, the Group has successively invested and established Haiyang Dongshan Fine Seafood Co., Ltd. (now renamed as Haiyang Branch), Yantai Shanhai Food Co., Ltd., Yantai Defeng Sea Food Co., Ltd.; undertook the sea cucumber farming project around Danzi Island; invested in the establishment of Oriental Ocean’s public bonded warehouse, aquatic product processing and trade base and built a collagen plant with the directional bio-enzyme enzyme engineering technology transferred from Ocean University of China, thus laying a strong foundation for the company’s further development. In 2010, the company cooperated with Norway and initiated salmon farming in China.
II. Relying on Scientific and Technological Innovation to Promote Company’s Sustainable Development
The company has always been adhering to the development idea of “Science and Technology Enterprise” and strives to create a science and technology innovation platform integrating projects, technology and funds with first-class independent R&D team and abundant research facilities. The company has employed and introduced over 50 senior management personnel and technical talents, 33 postgraduates, 6 doctors and 9 still studying for agriculture promotion master degree, of whom 3 doctors and 3 postgraduates are funded by the company. The company was listed among the first batch technology innovation centers of National “Spark Program” Leading Enterprise and became a demonstration base for Marine Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2004; our R&D center was indentified as the technology innovation center of agricultural product processing company by the Ministry of Agriculture in 2005; identified as State Enterprise Technology Centers in 2006; approved by Science & Technology Ministry of China as a constituent unit of National Algae Project Technology Research Center. During the years, the company has completed 45 science research and promotion topics, obtained 13 national patents and 11 science progress prizes at provincial or ministerial levels. The company is currently undertaking 13 research projects at ministerial, provincial and municipal levels, including four scientific projects of “Eleventh Five-year Plan”.
III. Relying on Management Innovation to Create Oriental Ocean Brand with All Our Strength.
Adhering to the business philosophy of “Honesty and Quality are Life”, the company has always been strictly control quality, technology and sanity management, and actively implementing standardization production and management. We have passed the EU sanitary registration, HACCP, ISO9001, ISO14001, OHSMS18001, BRC and ETI Social Responsibility Identification. Main products have passed non-pollution producing area and non-pollution products Identification.
The company’s registered trademark “Oriental Ocean” was rated as “Shandong Famous Trademark” and some of the company’s products were respectively named as “Shandong Famous Brand” and “China Famous Agricultural Product Brand”. Sea cucumber product is granted the permission of using special Yantai sea cucumber geographical sign. All these honors have promoted the company’s reputation and influence.
IV. Proactively Fulfilling Social Responsibility and Participating in Social Public Welfare affairs
Oriental Ocean has donated a total worth of over 2 million RMB to the society in forms of money and materials. In 2007, the donation has reached a total of 420,000 RMB to the society, including 244,000 RMB from the company’s party committee secretary and Chairman Mr. Che Shi, who has won the title of “Yantai Charity Star”. During the 2008 earthquake relief work, the chairman took the lead in donating 100,000 RMB and the whole staff actively donated 520,938 RMB and took practical action to support people in disaster areas; party members of the company willingly paid of a special party membership fee amounting to 53,700 RMB, including 10,000 RMB from two party members. Our company also actively makes almost 10,000 RMB donations to primary schools and kindergartens every year and helps military soldiers by contributing consolation money and materials of nearly 30,000 RMB to armed police at the station, firefighting army and frontier guards.
Our company was awarded by Yantai municipal party committee of CPC and Yantai municipal government with the honorary title of “Civilized Unit” in 2004-2005, 2006 and 2007; has won the titles of “Yantai Top 100 Private Enterprises”, “Advanced Party Organizations at Primary Level” and “Ping’an Yantai Advanced Construction Unit at Primary Level” in 2008; was awarded with the title of “Provincial Civilized Unit” by Shandong Provincial People’s Government in January 2009; identified by relevant national authorities as China Top 25 Aquatic Product Processing and Trade Enterprises; recognized as Yantai AA Enterprise by the customs.
